‘Thought’ is the Key to Success. The Chinese knew this 5 thousand years ago. The word 想 is ‘Thought’
By Steve | April 3, 2007
Thought is the first key to success. In fact, it is the vital first step.
I was thinking hard a few days ago when my friend from China said that Chairman Mao used to said ‘不怕做不到,就怕想不到’. It means ‘It is not what you can or cannot do, it is whether you can think of it”. These words inspired me to read the Chinese word ‘Thought’. The Chinese word ‘Thought’ is 想 , pronounced as ‘Xiang’. To my amazement, I found something profound about the Chinese word ‘Xiang’. The Chinese already knew The Secret – Law Of Attraction 5 thousand years ago. It is about 5 thousand years ago that the Chinese writing was invented.
The word Xiang is written with 目 on the top right. Read as ‘Mu’ , and it means Vision or Visual. Below it there is 心, read as Xin and it means Heart. On the top, ‘Mu’ is combined with another character to form 相. This word has many meanings;. In this case, it would be taken as Believe when read together with Xing. So, 相信 is Believe. ‘Thought’ in Chinese is written as想 which has the ingredient of Vision, Heart (desire, confident, determination) and Believe.
I can summarise what the ancient Chinese probably know about The Secret and Law of Attraction.. To be successful, you need to have Clear Vision. And your vision must align with your Heart – which contain the Desire, Determination and Values. And you must believe that you already have it and so you will take action to make it happen.
In these modern days, we can find many books and advises about using thought as the first steps to success.
Mr. Wallace D Wattles, author of Science of Getting Rich, which first published more than 100 years ago, mentioned in the book that “Thought is the only power which can produce tangible riches from the formless substance. The stuff from which all things are made is a substance which thinks, and a thought of form in this substance produces the form.” Thought, in his opinion, is the first principal in the Science of Getting Rich.
“Whatever you vividly imagine, ardently desire, sincerely believe, and enthusiastically act upon ..must inevitably come to pass!”, said Paul J Meyer.
I am completely overwhelmed with amazement when I wrote this article. I am trilled to know that thousands of years ago, man has already know ‘The Secret To Success’ and the Chinese actually put ‘The Secret of Thoughts’ into the Chinese writing. Look at the Great Wall and all the inventions that were created in China. Thought is indeed the first Key to Success.

Steve, some success can be quantified into certain amount of money but most cannot, especially those accomplishments that give you great satisfaction of having done something good.
Great stuff, great article! I shall be back for more. Have a nice day.

Hi Steve
Great post. Put a new spin to the Law Of Attraction with the association of the Chinese word “xiang”.
I watched The Secret DVD 2 weeks ago and it’s truly inspirational.
As Bob Proctor mentioned in a recent report of an interview he had given, he changed his thinking which in turn changed his life as he switched his thoughts from debt to earning money.
So I totally agree with your post that “Thought is the first key to success. In fact, it is the vital first step”
BTW, I just started my journey to blogging and realize that there’s so much to learn in Blogosphere.
Cheers
Janice
